What is OCIA?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a process of conversion whereby adults become full participating members of the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation. OCIA intends to instruct catechumenates both spiritually as well as intellectually.

OCIA is for:

• Those who have not been baptized or were baptized in other faith traditions and now feel called to become Catholic.
• Adults or children older than 7 who were baptized Catholic but never received First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation.
• Fully initiated Catholics seeking deeper catechetical knowledge of their Catholic Faith.
• Anyone at all looking to learn more about Christianity.

 

OCIA Program

OCIA for the 2026-2027 year will begin on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 at 6:30pm in the Cathedral School Library! This first meeting will be our Information Night, where we will discuss what the OCIA process is and how it works, as well as other important details such as the schedule, meeting times/commitments, and registration.  Questions?
