Fr. Martell was raised in California. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history, he attended Western State University College of Law, in California, where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2012. He practiced law in Southern California for 6 years before applying to seminary.



He relocated to Portland, Oregon in 2021, where he completed a pastoral assignment as a seminarian at St. Mary’s Cathedral. After the completion of his pastoral year assignment, he was sent to Rome for his theological studies at the Pontifical North American College.

Fr. Martell graduated with his Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome. He returned home for a pastoral assignment as a deacon after completing this degree.

Fr. Martell was ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Alexander Sample on June 20, 2026. As of July 1, 2026, he has been assigned as the parochial vicar at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
